Lovecraftian horror often removes humanity from the gaze. If you use completely white or black contact lenses, you break the empathetic connection immediately. If you don't have lenses, heavy contours around the eyes can create the illusion of deep, empty orbits

Smooth skin is a human trait. To create non-human skin texture, you need relief. Whether using liquid latex to create the effect of aged and cracked skin, or SFX modeling clay to add tentacles or cysts, the skin must appear inorganic or mutant
