Sewing Tutorial - Obi Wrap Belt
I'm stoked to share the first sewing tutorial using my newly released bernette b79 Yaya Han Edition sewing machine!
https://www.bernette.com/en/models/bernette-79-yaya-han-edition
This beautiful Obi inspired wrap belt is the perfect first embroidery project! In this tutorial, I will show you how to:
~ Edit an embroidery design in the BERNINA Embroidery Software 9 Creator
~ Hoop your fabric and stitch out a design on your machine
~ Sew piping with the help of the Zipper Foot
~ Achieve a clean finish with the Edgestitch Foot
The belt pattern can be downloaded for free!

Materials needed:
~ 0.4 m/ 0.45 yards of fabric (Polyester) for the outer belt (min. 1.2 m/ 1.3 yards width)
~ 0.3 m/ 0.32 yards corset coutil, duck fabric or medium weight woven fabric for the lining
~ Iron on interfacing
~ Tear-away embroidery stabilizer
~ Embroidery thread + embroidery bobbin thread (your choice of colors!)
~ Sewing thread, dark blue
~ 2.4 m/ 2.63 yards Bias tape binding
~ Tassel rope
~ 2 Snap fasteners
~ 2 Hook-n-eyes closures
Of course, these instructions will work even if you are embroidering/sewing on a different machine, but the spider lily embroidery design is exclusive to my b79 special edition bundle.
I encourage you to be creative and make this belt with a different front panel design and embellishments!
For those who have the bernette b79 Yaya Han Edition, I hope this tutorial helps you get to know the machine better and gives you even more ideas for embroidering and sewing your own projects!
If you prefer written sewing instructions, this tutorial is available on the bernette website and includes a pdf with sewing instructions!
