The Great Cosplay Debate: Armour (Armor) vs sewing - which is better?

It's a debate as old as time itself... okay, maybe not - but as long as Cosplay has been around, especially with Cosplay competitions, it has been a debate. Which is better, armour (or armor from the Americans in the audience) or sewing based cosplays?

To be honest, I think most cosplayers will gravitate initially to one or the other, but why should that stop us?

What are your thoughts on the debate? What do you tend to gravitate towards?
