Cheap Sunburst Crown Tutorial
what's good? how ya doin? it's ya girl Dee back with a DIY video. every year towards Halloween I get a lot of requests for comissions and props and costumes, and though I love that folks would think to turn to me for their needs, it's not something I'm able to accomodate at this time. However, I wanted to bring a few DIY videos out there that could potentially help people out as they plan for all things spooky. (or some cool photoshoots!)
most of the crown tutorials out there require a lot, depending upon how extravagant you want them to be. I want to show you how you can do this for as cheap as possible, and still have something that looks phenomenal. dividing it up into two methods:
Zip Tie Crown-- beginner/easy
Wooden Dowel Crown-- advanced/Gangsta level. (fast forward to 12:08)
Suggested Supplies:
-*-*-* Beginner *-*-*-
zip ties (various lengths)
scissors
slender headband
hot glue gun
optional--
spray paint
sealant
pliers
fake flowers
-*_*_* Gangsta *-*-*-
Wooden Dowels (or chopsticks or bamboo/kabob skewers)
thicker headband
hot glue gun
scrap cardboard
fake flowers
spray paint
sealant
heavy duty scissors (or rose clippers/wire cutters)
optional--
beads
sequins/decorations
Mostly everything came from Dollar Tree, Wal-Mart or Family Dollar. Save for spray paint and sealants (those are tricky to find for cheap, but it *can* be done) you shouldn't have to spend any more than $5-$10 bucks and a few hours of your time.
I neglected to mention drying time; if you do spray paint, be sure to follow your paint brand's directions for drying to touch/handle, and then before you can wear it. some of these you can get done and painted in a single day, depending upon your timing.
Hope that answers most questions! feel free to let me know if i missed something in the comments. Thanks for watching!
