Drama is Everywhere in the Cosplay Community

It feels like drama is inescapable in the cosplay community. No matter where I look there is drama, bullying, and some kind of conflict. I started cosplaying to find community. I never had many friends growing up, so cosplaying made me feel part of something. Cosplay is an easy way to make friends by finding a character you recognize.
However, certain factors and series of events have made cosplaying feel like it isn't a safe space anymore. There is more of a focus on attaining this impossible beauty standard, excluding people and conflicts leading to doxing people online.
I only wish I could escape this new era of cosplay. The only thing that can be done now is to hopefully rebuild this community together and continue to spread a positive message.
