How to make your own Fairy Asuna Ears from the anime Sword Art Online!

To create the ears, I first got reference images from the anime Sword Art Online of Asuna's ears. I then made a to-scale template in Adobe Illustrator of the ears (available on my website, link below). I then cut 2mm EVA foam with an exacto knife & glued the pieces of the ear together with contact cement glue. Next, I sanded my edges with a sanding drum & then glued the detail piece onto the ears with contact cement glue. I then trimmed the detail pieces & sanded once again. The final step before painting was to get a heat treat to the entire piece using a heat gun.

To prepare for painting, I sprayed three coats of Plasti Dip on both sides of the ears & let dry. Once dry, I masked off areas with masking tape & then sprayed a base coat of black airbrush paint followed by silver. I then removed the masking tape & then masked off the silver painted areas. Next, I airbrush painted peach, mocha & then a mix of the two to match my skin tone. I then removed the masking tape from the silver painted areas.

To attach the ears to my wig, I applied hot glue to hair clips to the back of the ears. The final step was to clip the ears to the wig & then my Fairy Asuna ears were done!
