How to make Ruler (Jeanne d'Arc) Boots from Fate/Apocrypha- DIY Cosplay Tutorial

How to make your own Boots for your Ruler (Jeanne d'Arc) cosplay from the anime Fate/Apocrypha!

To create the boots, I first got reference images from the anime Fate/Apocrypha of Ruler's boots. I then made a to-scale template in Adobe Illustrator of the boot covers (available on my website, link below). I then cut 4mm EVA foam for the base parts & 6mm for the swirly parts with an exacto knife. I next sanded all of my edges with a sanding drum & heat treated each piece with a heat gun. Next, I applied contact cement glue to my both sides of my pieces & waited for everything to completely dry before attaching together. To fill the cracks & seams, I used Kwik Seal & a craft stick.

To prepare for painting, I sprayed three coats of Plasti Dip on both sides of my boot covers & let dry. Once dry, I sprayed a base coat of black airbrush paint followed by silver. I then used black airbrush paint to add details & followed by a light dusting of silver airbrush paint to the entire piece. The final step for the boot covers was to apply a coat of Satin Clear Enamel spray paint to seal them.

For the shoes, I bought black ones from Steve Madden. I then masked off the shoes with masking tape & airbrush painted them silver. I then added details with black airbrush paint & followed with a light all over dusting of silver. Next, I sealed them with Satin Clear Enamel spray paint & let dry before removing the masking tape.

The final step was to add velcro to the silver straps on the shoes & to the back sides of the boot covers and then Ruler's Boots were done!
