How to shorten a Zipper

Sometimes we just can't find the perfect zip and we need to shorten it. This is an unorthodox method of shortening a zipper and sealing the ends so the zipper head doesn't run loose. I've been told multiple times by people I can't shorten a zipper, this is right back at them!

Obviously, this method does not work with metal zippers. For metal zippers, I recommend sewing a thick layer of thread around the teeth or maybe stick a fabric over it. Burning the edges to seal them also doesn't work with cotton zippers.
