I tried cosplaying in public in Japan... and it was NOT what I expected.
While Japan is famous for anime and cosplay culture, wearing cosplay out in public isn't actually as common as many people think. So when I traveled to Tokyo, I decided to step outside my comfort zone and see what it was really like.
In this video, I visit Navi Spot Shinjuku ALE, a viral cosplay experience in the heart of Shinjuku where you can rent cosplay, transform into your favorite character, and even sit in a giant window overlooking the busy streets below to show off your look. From getting into costume to exploring Tokyo, I wanted to find out firsthand how people would react—and whether cosplaying in public in Japan is as easy as the internet makes it seem.
