Ryme from #PokemonScarletandViolet: Wig Creation (#Cosplay Walkthrough/Tutorial)

83 visualizações Publicado em 2024-07-04
Hey there! thank you for watching. This is a 32 minute video that shows how I created the wig for my Ryme cosplay over the course of three weeks. Total working hours was approximately 30.

Components used for the wig:
Wig cap
Wig stand
Wig combs (some of the braided wig caps come with one or two, but I like to add more for extra security.)
Marker for marking (metallic preferred, chalk would fade)
Pattern paper
Pool noodles
Quilt Batting (1/2 inch)
braiding hair/weave/crochet hair
hot glue gun
hot glue sticks
weaving thread and needle
scissors (not the scissors you use for fabric)

If you are interested in the measurements I used for Ryme's wig, read below. I would have pictures of her hair handy so that you can visually follow along. You can pause the video at 0:07 for a view of the front of her hair or skip to 1:59 during the pattern drafting portion to get a view of the back of her hair.
(it's not an up close reference though I do apologize.)

The hair pieces seem to represent bones; a variation of an arm (humurus and radius as well as a hand) for the front, and what i think may represent a spine for the back middle pieces. Thankfully there is a lot of symmetry. The measurements that I used were about 30 inches down from the nape of my neck, as well as 32 inches from my hairline in front.

The back pieces are divided into sections -- the outer most pieces having three "bones." Those were 10 inches in length. I cut seven of them total since the front has one of those bones as well. I opted to make the those pieces about 3 inches wide.

The middle piece has a top section that is two long pieces pulled together, then two smaller pieces below it, a semi longer one right above the "tailbone," and then the "tailbone" that looks similar to an infinity symbol. For the top two long pieces, I estimated those to be about 11.5 inches long, however only 2.5 inches wide. The next two smaller pieces I had at 4.5 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. The semi longer piece above the tail bone I had at 5.5 inches long, 2.5 inches wide coming to a slight taper where it would connect to the tail bone. And finally, for the tail bone, I had that approximately 12/13 inches in width in total. The pattern I sketched was about 1.5 inches wide and it was bent around a curve. I only made one half so I could connect the two pieces in the middle.

For the front hair piece, the top portion was about 3.5 inches long and 3 inches wide, the next bone being 10 inches long and 3 inches wide. The radius/humurus I created to be identical. 12 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. The "palm" of the hand was originally a 4 x 4 square that I rounded off the corners. The fingers didn't actually have a pattern -- but I made the pinky and the thumb about 2.5 inches long, and the three other fingers about 3 inches long. All pieces maybe 1 inch wide.

I know that sounds complicated but I think it would make sense for those trying to make their own wig. I'm happy to explain if something seems confusing or if you need additional clarity -- IG is my most active platform, or you can shoot me an e-mail: diana@dianathegreat.com.

Thank you so much for watching!
