Snapchat Video Blog | EVA Foam Cosplay Build: Wonder Woman | long video alert (pt2)
attempting to re-upload this footage. due to a copyright claim on the first video, although it was settled, it created a glitch that banned the video from mobile devices. as well, due to the length, it took several days to get it through youtube's servers to be accepted. thanks for your patience.
first thing you need to know is that this video is long. super long. ridiculously long. (and i threw some ads in there too, so Talya, it's intentional this time.)
you are about to watch a month and a half of footage, in an hour and a half.
if you're not here for this, i ain't mad atcha. take care.
but if you ARE here for this,
get snacks.
take breaks.
cozy up.
get ready.
i filmed this in the hopes that it will help someone out. there aren't many, if any, tutorials out there for Wonder Woman, for women who are shaped like me or look like me. that's the main reason i chronicled this, and left it at the length that it was. (due to a minor glitch in snapchat there are some minor skips/stutters, these are inadvertent and not intentional. if it bothers you, i'm not sorry.)
that being said, here's your backstory:
i have cosplaying officially for 2.5 years, unofficially at halloween when i would smash the costume contests at work for about 6 years. after crafting the cosplay for my son and i at Kansas City Comicon, i decided that i would prep for Planet Comicon with making my own build. once they announced the rules for the cosplay contest, i felt like i could do it, and i submitted my application. it was a crazy decision. and as you will see, it required a lot of free time and lack of sleep. i didn't think i could win, but i did feel like i could represent for women who looked like me or were shaped like me.
many times i lost motivation. it took three tries to get the base corset right, and truth be told it's still being held together with some duct tape on this very day. but once i started, i had to finish. i'm a woman of my word. people were depending on me to finish actually, to hold me accountable and see it through, as well as the fact that so many people believed in me. for each and every single one of you, i'm thankful.
sure, it's a nerdy hobby. i definitely could be doing worse things with my time lol. but once accomplished, i felt great. the cosplay community in Kansas City, as well as the POC Cosplay community online, they are some great affiliations, and i am so proud to have so many awesome new friends.
but anyway. enough with the backstory.
the template kit came from Epoch Echo Cosworx, who specializes in building great blueprints for moments like this. their template saved this cosplay, i'm not gonna lie.

gracious thanks to Nichole for handling a hungry restless horse for us in between pictures

thanks to the kid for letting your mom nerd out, for various duct tape help, and for being there for me.
