the following is ripped from my snapchat feed, from 10:00 pm (ish) 11/9/17 to 12:00 pm the day of comicon. this is chronocling my DIY endeavors of making our cosplays for Scorpion and Noob Saibot from Mortal Kombat. Scorpion is one of the more popular players, whilst Noob is actually a hidden character in the game, originating from the netherhealm. most of the other ninjas are well known, such as Reptile (green) Sub Zero (blue) or Smoke (gray.) I picked Noob because he's the black one.
yes, double entendre.
true to character, Noob is solid black with whited out pupils, so i broke out my white out contacts. the other ninjas also have whited out puples as well but the kid is blessed with bomb vision and i don't want to force contacts on him.
i followed this tutorial for the kid's mask
this was the mask i purchased from Amazon for myself
i studied these tutorials for the general outfits
my sewing machine is a brother JX2517 and i used the #11 setting for all of the stitches and seams
my black makeup for my face consisted of the black Nicka K eyeshadow i had from halloween (the large square pan and a kabuki brush for all over application) and then the black and gray shadows from the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette on the eyes. i lightly lined my eye with black liquid eyeliner and then used the silver NYX glitter liner (Crystal Gun) for the sparkly wing; i felt that since Noob is such a dark character, i wanted to bring a little bit of myself with it, and applied my Velour Silk Lashes, the Fluff n Cool set. i also used the ABH Liquid Lipstick in the shade Midnight to help mask my skin color beneath the mask.
for the kid i prepped him with Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Prmer Potion, and then used the ABH cream contour palette in deep to help darken his eyes. then some of the Nicka K shadow to help deepen the appearance a little more. i also cleaned his brows up with the benefit gimme brow gel.
we had very high hopes of entering the costume contest, but upon arrival we discovered it was actually randomized for selection, and votes were cast based upon crowd cheers. i sincerely hope that the event staff reconsiders this, though best of luck to those who were selected. i didn't blog much during Kansas City Comicon as well, but did capture lots of pictures and will share those soon.
other than that, sorry for the long video, but i wanted to capture the entire process since it was my first time making everything and hope to inspire someone else out there. i'm very much an amateur cosplayer but everyone starts from somewhere.
as always, thanks for watching.
